Several years ago, a large, Detroit-based automotive manufacturer needed a sophisticated and secure database to handle vehicle and client information. Two programmers, Gary Perlick and Rob Swearengen, were hired to provide a solution for this complex application. In 1982, these two men officially formed Renkim Corporation, naming the company after their wives – Rena and Kim, hence RenKim. The company facilitated large scale data processing and communications management services.
In the late nineties, the original founders began the process of converting Renkim’s ownership from the two original founders to an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Still today, every single share of Renkim Corporation is owned by current Renkim employees.
Around this same time, the company began adding to their project-based service offerings with continuity-based ones catered to a variety of industries with a legal or financial background. Over the years, serving these new industries led Renkim to acquire and maintain top of the line third party compliance certifications for operational procedures, physical and data security, that are still in place today.
Nearing forty years since it all began, we still service that first automobile manufacturer client, as well as handling complex data processing and storage, and communications management of legal, tax, financial, and other mission-critical documents for hundreds more clients in the credit, collection, healthcare, insurance, automotive, and utility industries throughout North America.
